AfroSync started in 2024. We looked at the UK events scene — no shortage of string quartets and covers bands — and saw room for the real thing: Afrobeat, jazz and reggae, played properly.
2024 is recent. The music isn't. It runs from Fela Kuti through jazz to reggae, and we play it on piano, sax and djembe — with marimba, mbira and talking drum when the moment calls for it.
We don't do background music. We're the part of the night people remember.
The sound
Piano, saxophone and djembe, playing Afrobeat, jazz and reggae — then marimba, mbira and talking drum for the moments that stay with people. Fela Kuti's groove, the freedom of jazz, the warmth of reggae. It works at a black-tie gala and it works at a wedding, and either way it fills the floor.
The musicians
AfroSync is built on individual musicianship — players with their own lineage in these genres. Full bios to follow.
